Surf of Perranporth The mist clung to the cliff like a grey veil Dampness touched my face with soft tears from the cloud Skylarks hushed no blue sky for them this day Unseen below soothing sound of Cornish surf On clearer days a white expanse of sand But not this day this cold day of deepest thought No horizon to chase the mind away To sun kissed hair and freckles within your tan Lost sun once painted shadows on the ground Those seas once blue true colour reflecting eyes And on the surf white horses chase the wind Then fall and tumble their forms soon lost in foam Far below the tide turns for better days Breath of wind to part the veil then golden rays |

You really are a wordsmith par excellence, Michael. I felt the weight of sorrow's weather - or weather's sorrow - in this and the longing for the happiness and memories embraced by the literal and emotional effects of the warmth of sunshine on sand and soul that seemed so far away. Very, very beautiful (as always). Owl |
