She stands in the rain That's how I see her now Waving as she leaves Salt tears lost to the storm Its a fantasy A dream that I hold A fiction to forgive myself In reality here I stand No tears falling for me No-one waves me away It is true, she is gone As they are all gone She was just the last Now my arms are empty My tears the only ones that fall and no storm to take them I earn my final broken heart I earn the perfect silence With which I share my bed This is my full stop My sentence ends My stories quaint savage tragedy I bought my own pain With each piece of myself One at a time I surrender I sit in the shadow Watching the sun just beyond my reach And I wish for the rain I aint as good as I once was but I'm as good, once, as I ever was. - Toby Keith |
