Time’s Lessons

They told me that it wouldn’t last,
But listen I did not.
They told me I moved way too fast,
I should give it more thought.

The passion sweet, the lips pure bliss,
I just could not say, “no!”
Started with the very first kiss,
I let everything go.

Oh, I fell hard, I see it now,
In momentary pause.
Don’t need no Holier than thou
To teach me their faux pas.

Though “love, like lightning, don’t strike twice,”
Might echo in my head.
To me, such logic don’t suffice,
Cause she’s still in my bed.

The past be damned, more a lost chance
Than a failing as such.
Still feel all I did at first glance…
Doubtless, now, twice as much!

Woowho Michael! You go boy! (If I read that last line or two right...)

Still feel all I did at first glance…
  Doubtless, now, twice as much!

The irresistible lure of your words..
(*sighing into your space again, 'tis good luck me'thinks)

Warm thoughts on your fourth stanza..
The lightening might not strike twice, but it does tend to burn down the walls of time in blessedly fast fashion!

bliss-kist, for certain..

Not sure what you saw there, Lori, but if it was love, the allure of love, or the binding quality it places on a heart, then yeah, you saw right.

Tanya, lol... a raging inferno has come of it this time through, hasn't it.  Timing is everything I suppose.

*laugh* the past be dammed indeed, and so what if lightning strikes twice, as long as you don't get burned, let love continue to lie on your bed. This is bravado only the young can attempt to feel. And what's life if one does not take chances - so go for it Michael.

jjote, not sure i qualify as young, but am definitely enjoyed this second particular go round of love.  Some things do get better with time it seems.

I have no grace, but I dance a happy dance; my voice grates, but I sing a hallelujah; my knees ache, but I fall to them in thanksgiving... This is a wonderful poem, but more... it's an answered prayer!

Well done, my friend!!
