Fairytale I. The other side of sanity, I stood before the throne. Just looking upon Vanity, Condemned to life alone! Lifeless eyes shaded pale blue, He bore a plastic crown. The jester's joke rung ever true, Countenance of a clown! His diadem, a silhouette Of hope, once held, on high. By an addiction of roulette, No Monarch can deny… The wheel spins, the kingdom falls; All stand in disarray. For no one wins within the walls Of self-righteous decay… And Past rules now, upon dark horse, Poison scepter there claimed… Unto the joust, upholds discourse Till honor is defamed. By passions bled, by crumbled hope, By angels stripped of wing… We tally the dead, not the scope Held to our fallen king. With gauntlets shed, and swords laid bare, On battlefields of ghosts; Stand we, tempted beyond all care, To share our maddened boasts… The toast, herein, to anarchy, For all cherished now dies. Kingdom, therein, a fallacy; Love's fairytale, but lies. II. He crests the mountaintop of Shame, ‘Pon pale, prancing steed. No course of honor left his name, Knight of Yesterday's deed. Emblem of Hope yet carved in chest, Ashes before him stand. By eyes of dream daring attest, Darkness now rules his land! By father's pride, by brother's blade, Given lifelong exile. Now all dead but a promise made To one who held his smile. He dares return, sword raised in jest, To fight for Pride once shorn. With eyes that burn in stern protest Of Love once left forlorn. He sights the eyes of lament’s lies, Homage given at last... Bemoans the cries of stifled tries To overcome the past! Though never shares, by opened heart, The gift for her he saves. Lo, idly stares, there ripped apart, Upon the open graves. Oh, Prince of Rain, all hail you true, By eyes of Death, accursed. All heed the pain once swore to you, Lo, Justice returned first... As stationed smile glossed in denial, Still speaks her golden charms. By Time's revile, know Love passed while Within your brother's arms. III. Sword laid to stone, by dying sheen Of brilliance on the eye. Silent, alone, he held his queen, Though never once would cry. In solemn tread o'er windswept loam, Crestfallen shadows hold. To reap the dead of childhood's home, Lo, turn the warm heart cold! The dessert calls, barren wastelands Of riches never sought. He stumbles, falls, cries in the hands Of faces ne'er forgot. Lo, Prince of Pain, proclaim your lust In bricks laid to the morrow. Walls of disdain formed to mistrust Build your castle on Sorrow. Self-proclaimed King of Agony, Watch Night become your day. Forsake the sting of Misery In life you sleep away. From stone tower to ocean bluff, By angel's call yet true. That faithless hour sure enough... Two heard, yet but one flew! By silent scream, taken swift winds, The maiden ever flies. If but by dream, emptiness rends A past that never dies. Take up the crown, unsheathe the sword, Time of siege now at hand. Trophies laid down, by all accord Falls your castle of sand. IV. Mount here this rage, lo, fiery red, Take eye of fallen clan. Within this cage wherein the dead Throw dice in wage of man. Armor yet donned in tarnished lieu Of silent reverie. Sanctity pawned till all left true Falls before Destiny. By vision smote, by dream laid waste, The nomad heeds the call. Ever remote, by hands of haste, Bleeds the judgments of all! The desert coals calling once more, For skin from barren feet. Upon one soul's lifelong deplore Of Love's timeless deceit. There wanders lost, till forest shade Quells the river of pain. Suffers the cost of each vow made To sweet lips kissed in vain. Till deepest brown meshed softest green, Peaceful magic implies. Must stand, renown, before the queen Of heaven's ceaseless cries. Till passions sweep across the floor The fragrance of romance. Till lovers weep to hold once more A choice over a chance. No more a Prince, no more a King, No steed of gothic hue. Forever, hence, all hearts shall sing, Of Love found ever true. Michael Anderson 4/05/2000 |

WoW! You almost copyrighted this on my birthday. A kingdom fought for and lost, a love which was deceit, this man wore damnation true and blue. Read it three times, and as I did I kept seeing this made into a screenplay for a movie, or at least a video. So much color, so much human feelings and passion so much rage. I really got into this. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Thanks Jer, this was the story of my life up to to the year 2000. the blue-eyed king was my father who passed, leaving a family to crumble in his absence. the loves mention in here were all true, the betrayal of a brother as well... but I still held a glimmer of hope and wrote myself a happy ending. Wasn't completely jaded yet I guess... ![]() Michael |

Exactly, Jer, a fairytale. Thus the reason I left out the vultures circling overhead. Michael |
