Through Her Eyes

‘Received the strangest gift last night,
It took me by surprise—
Opened the heavens bold and bright,
And bid my soul arise.

A lifetime-jaded-man like me,
Bent on his own demise;
Seeing just how different things can be
In someone else’s eyes.

Treading the waters, elbows out,
In fear of drawing close.
Nearly overcome by self-doubt,
Hurting whom I love most.

I took my stand on honesty,
I just lay my soul bare…
And then she did the same for me,
Was like an answered prayer.

Two separate views of things long past,
And neither one quite true.
Love lost to questions never asked,
As our dream ran askew.

With new clarity, born of trust—
We set the record straight,
‘Pulled out our hearts, blew off the dust,
And reconsidered Fate.

So strange the things you never see—
Logic never implies.
Life’s better shared, believe you me,
Having seen through her eyes.

Michael, this is exquisite. Love the thoughts within this one so much. You came very close to giving yesterday's thoughts a way to understand and accept what was then and what is now. Very much enjoyed.

James, thank you, sir.

Jer, this was quite hard to write… I still don’t think I quite conveyed the entire change in my thought process from one simple moment of truth. It was beautiful, and remarkable… and showed me just how preset my mind has been to self-sabotage. I feel doubly blessed today for the fresh insight, and the beautiful person who gifted me with it.

Tanya, brown and green make... I'll go with magic for now, but I think it's oh so much more than that. A smart man indeed, all I did is change my point of view and now I get to swack you instead of the other way around.
