she kept a tin can of bacon grease beside the tired cook stove that came to life only for her. with a rolling pin, she beat the biscuit dough, slamming it into the worn wood of a tilted, plywood counter top. he would yell his question, What are you doing, damn it? Making biscuits! she would shriek in return, imagining his head rolling down the counter top as she beat the biscuit dough taking him far away from her as she smelled the bacon grease kept close to the stove. This is one of those scenarios you think can only happen to someone else as you read and chuckle... Very good write... I wonder if I still have my old helmet? |

very astute! I think we all have our own ways of banging the biscuit dough. I relate to being angry like that. Great poem! xoxo ~L |

True slice of life, my friend, and the ability to do this scenario is an important part of longevity in marriage. Burning your bridges without burning up the truth in togetherness... j. |

Bacon grease and biscuits now there's a combo you ain't gonna get at MacDonalds. The stuff you get at MacDonalds will kill ya. Great scene painted, made me think of my grandmother and grandfather. true love never looks after it's own interests |

I've always heard of beaten biscuits... and as Paul Harvey used to say - now we have the rest of the story. LOL |
