The untimely and tragic passing within the last several days of lives we have known have brought mortality too close to home It echos within that hollow of my own that love cannot keep or hold one precious moment lingering beyond its time to go or from where its place be told It aches in the emptiness of I imagine my life without presence or voice of ones forsaking me to their never more Thoughts unbidden by choice shroud my heart in the heaviness of inevitability LGR(C)1/5/14 |

Ah Lori, I find myself writing of that day we all must face more and more. Even though we know most of our lives that we will some day die, it doesn't become a reality until we reach a certain age. And that age is different for each of us. That age for me is the present. Excellent poetry with a resounding lust for life. I'd have loved to have known you when your picture was taken, and I was quite a few years younger. I hope you don't take that any way except as a positive. ~*~ All that we send into the lives of others comes back into our own. ~*~ |

Great love. Great misery when one of you dies. |

Wow Lori, this was quite powerful. "Of ones forsaking me to their never more" Love that line but the whole poem grabbed me. Definately one of your best. Michael |

Jerry, Krawdad and Michael, I am grateful for your positive response to this piece. Having the good fortune of not yet losing parents, siblings, or a spouse or thank God a child; I realized a world of hurt awaits me when recent deaths opened a door of fear deep inside me. This was an attempt to give voice to that fear and loosen its hold on me. Lori |

I have lost parents, a sibling, spouse and two of my children. They say time heals all wounds. I can tell you that it does not. I understand what you are saying. Fine writing. Ida |

Thanks Ida for letting me know you understand. I like to think I'm not one of those who doesn't know what they have until it is gone... Lori |

Beautiful poem, Lori. Especially touching for me were the following lines: that love cannot keep or hold one precious moment lingering beyond its time to go (though I have heard stories to the contrary) and of ones forsaking me to their never more and shroud my heart in the heaviness of inevitability Although both my parents are dead (I didn't have them to begin with, well, not in the way I should have), I have only lost precious animals and precious friends, and that tore me apart enough, so I can't imagine what it must be like to lose a family member. I am sorry for your recent losses and for your fears of future losses within time. Owl |

Very touching and heartfelt. I've lost a parent and a best friend and it never gets any easier as time passes. kat >^..^< |

Owl and Kat, Thanks for letting me know this poem touched you. I lost a close friend decades ago and I still weep at times for that hole she left behind. Lori |
