Your flowered hat invites a smile and an approach to peer under its brim. That is where true beauty awaits. It is in your trembling smile. It is in your softly faded blue eyes. You allow me, a stranger, to share a moment of friendship with you. You, a woman I see only every now and then. You, a woman, I am growing to love. No words exchanged. No words necessary. I see your centurion face, filled with memories of the girl you once were, and the girl you will forever be. Bright flowers speak for you and I hear them. I do hear them. - Alison |

Ahhh . . . Bright flowered hats affects me like lumpy oatmeal makes you! Heh.Heh . . . Maybe that is because I never bothered to peer under those hats. You wrote a nice poem, however about the woman in the many flowered hat. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

The "centurion face" line leaves quite the expression. So telling. Beautifully done, Alison. Michael |

dearest Alison, Yours was the first poem I picked to read this morning. Yea! Just what the Dr. ordered for my befuddled muddled mood! What a perfect capture of a precious and joyously contagious whimsy. A straight to the heart feel good!! ~L |

Thought I had commented already - - - looked in again to read comments and, Lo!, not word one from me . . . With the first read I smiled, and warmed. With the second I saw this little girl bending over to look under the hat's brim only to see the sparkling eyes, smile and face of age radiating "warmth and welcome". This third read, I saw Alison's soul - radiant, again... and I smiled with happy. Can you tell I liked this??? |

Not only is this an exquisite, quiver-sensitive painting of the outer and inner woman in the flowered hat, but also your beautiful soul couldn't help shining through, Alison. If only we could photocopy or clone lots and lots of Alisons, what a wonderful world this would be! Wol |
