SKILLS the poetry of pottery is in the mixing of the clay it’s grains of sand and ruddied mud with moisture and with deft can bring about a beauty when swirled and dried then baked in a kiln of perfect tempered heat the lifting and the sifting with molding and with shaping with coated hues bright or subdued then heated once again placed on a shelf for all to see in glimmer or in matte such artistry graces the life of an observer with gracious punctuation. I have seen videos of people who take clay and, with great dexterity, make something completely out of this world beautiful. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Vas, I understand the beauty of which you write.A close older friend taught this art and I tried my hand. It is indeed an art and when perfected compares to poetry as you say. Jo |

Thanks, Jo. I took a class one summer during my educator education. Many creations survived the process, but it's very difficult to forget the loss of a piece that was fired prior to being totally dry. It burst back into the grains from which it began. At least it was no more than clay, inanimate. Of microscopic import comparatively. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
