once I drank a glass of misery turned it up drank it down I had the audacity to act surprised when misery hung around I heard misery likes company so I drank another round asked God to help me said I'd reform if He did just this one time rid me of misery next day it was gone I shouted hallelujah felt so good went out and bought some cheap California burgundy just to celebrate don't'cha know drank a bit too much that night felt it bad in the morn took a sip of the dawg whot bit me guess you can guess the rest took to the warm red wine a little too much drank up my home lost my wife children a sad sack I was God, I pleaded help me out heah get me over this crisis won't n'er do it again God hesitated I added I'll start going to your house every Sunday you'll see me every Sunday I'll be there by that afternoon my craving was gone thought so good about it I rolled a joint for to commemorate the day floating on that escapism cloud I liked that feeling heard of something called speed that sounded 'bout right within a years' time strung out on the spike no veins left to shoot up in what am I gonna do Dear God in Heaven ya gotta help me I've really done it this time heroin killing me what do you want me to do I'll do it anything please Dear God I'm begging this is what He said to me you are a fool a hypocrite a liar a user of My Good Will I begged pleaded cried and sniveled God had mercy solved my problem like he had before made me feel so good I drank a glass of misery ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

They say that one has to go so far down that when one has been able to climb back up again, one can better appreciate the blessings God gave to make this happen. Happy for you Jerry that you have gone over this past. |

You been there done that and lived to tell the tale... Doesn't hardly seem worth the hard times until someone says "Thanks for sharing, I needed to hear that." Your glass of misery becomes their cup of tea. ~L |

I started to argue...then I saw these lines: God had mercy solved my problem like he had before Yep, 70 times 7. Recently went through a study called, "The Prodigal God." Liberating, uplifting and disconcerting. A mighty powerful study that can shake and begin a deeper relationship. This "prodigal" is defined as "extravagant." Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Glad you didn't argue, VAS, I appreciate what you did say though. "Prodigal God." Interesting. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

I've often considered misery to be a jealous lover... loves company but hates sharing. I've poured that drink many times over, I've sailed that sea, hell I even put a ring on her finger... all in writing though. To actually tap a vein I hope is something I would never consider. Ain't no satisfying that one, Jer, at least not by yourself. Glad you found the answer when you really needed it. Michael |
