Innocence not Lost |

I used to dream in words, waking to savor syllables as they teased and meshed with images painted behind my closed eyelids. Memories whispered a reminder of innocence not yet lost and of stories not yet shared. I once raced, like a child, to share refrigerator poetry, hanging it on available blank spaces, as if it was graffiti. Silence now suffocates creativity, syllables no longer tap dance across colorful images. Yet they lurk with innocence not yet lost, maybe waiting for a chance to return. Alison |

I completely understand, Alison. When we first find words to express our deepest desires, it is impossible to believe these words could ever dry up. But life gets in the way and milks us dry. Or so we believe. But we began writing, not completely passion-inspired as before, but a more controlled one. Analyzing ourselves and others. So! "It" hasn't left us, it has just changed its course. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

I think, in the last few years, your mind has just been so overwhelmed with "happenings" that creative writing hasn't be important - but, just think of the fodder you've been growing; when the time comes you'll have words upon words to write, and we'll have so much to read and ponder and feel. . . enjoyed this piece, enjoyed "seeing" you again so much more. jimmy |

I feel ya girlie! I hit a dry spell that lasted years. It was a simple case of constipation. I thought I couldn't write unless I was "inspired". Turned out I could write just fine when "given" something to write about. It is all inside you. Don't fret. Good to read you! ~L |

quote: That's not a whisper Alison, that's me yelling from down here in California. I was beginning to think you couldn't hear me. Seriously, I was very happy to see this. I have always found the emotions in your writing to be somewhat infectious. Here's hoping you pay your muses their due. Michael |

When I feel too much, too deeply - my pen is dry. It's as if heartblood and ink can't flow simultaneously - perhaps because I know my words are inadequate to express the feelings, perhaps because writing the words leaves me vulnerable to the pain's intensity again. (Perfect example for me is my poetic silence since Kate's death.) But inevitably, eventually - words become part of my life again. Yours have begun - and whether they come as a trickle or a deluge, they'll be welcomed! You're worth the wait!! |

Ali, my lovely, I have had the same difficulty with my unruly muses. I hope yours return soon, perhaps they'll drag mine along? ~Sheli~ |
