Shades of Grey

My life is full of tangled webs woven
from shades of grey spreading out of a deep chasm
where emotional turmoils have plunged me into.
The unknown that lurks in every corner frightens me
I just wish to drift into a blissful vacuum of sleep.

Solitude is a welcome refuge from pain
brings me to a safe place, a cocoon
beneath the dread of tarnished clumsy passions.
I am intimidated by a fate so capricious
everything I touch turns to disenchantment.

But I shall try to carry my burdens with dignity,
I refuse to have my rainbows dismantled,
instead hold on to the shafts of light
that filter from them in multi-colors
and try to recapture even a whisper of sun.

It took me quite a few years to untangle my many problems, that drifted into shades of black. Thankfully I managed to face them head-on and beat them back to the point I am very happy these days and have found peace within. From time to time I still write of "those" days, but they no longer control me. I wish you the very best.

you're right there. Problems should never take control of our lives, but seems they never can get untangled..

Really enjoy how that last verse has some resolve and goes positive.
Captured the emotions very well in this.
