halleluiah hopes they'd go to church each sunday to stay in heaven's light they'd pray their secret wish-filled prayers from the back pew on the right they'd leave a little early before the sermon's end down the steps, into the car to the bar just 'round the bend they loved their country music they loved their beer on draft "you think the preacher saw us? one of them would always laugh along the narrow highway like a snake it seemed to wind speed didn't really matter with halleluiah hopes in mind a service was held last friday the lilies were so white no one was praying wish-filled prayers from the back pew on the right "HEY, DON'T THROW THAT AWAY, I MIGHT NEED IT SOMEDAY!!!" Powerful and thought provoking poem. Wishful prayers, yes who could deny to have them expressed? And then suddenly it is too late to ask for anything or to be simply grateful for life's free gifts. The muse is back I see! Margherita |

Makes one pause to think..life is so uncertain and one never knows when it suddenly ends. I hope their wish-filled prayers were answered, seeing they're always in church on Sundays. |
