I am inclined to think, that as often as not, there is more true history in the remains of a clay pot than in the corrupted words of priests and kings. For there is honesty and purity in simple things. Ida Werrett |

Well Amen to that! You know they say a broken watch tells the correct time twice every 24 hrs where even the most accurate watch can be off by just a millisecond. I feel the same way about poverty. Living closer to the bone is a more "honest" state of being in that there is less money to buffer you from the harsh realities of the world. |

What Lori said. ~*~ When politicians give up on liberty, it falls to poets to preserve it. Or write its epitaph. ~*~ |

Wise words, and so very true. This wrapped itself around me like a favourite blanket. I'll take the clay pot any day. One for the memory. I can definitely see myself quoting this in future conversations, I hope you don't mind? |

ABSOLUTELY true (superbly put)! ... I also feel the same when I look at the 'Standing Stones' (Stenness; Avebury; Stone Henge, etc.) of 'Pre-history' as well ! If you wish to see something particularly fascinating, look up the mysterious Neolithic complex they've unexpectedly discovered at the Ness of Brodgar, Orkney Islands, Scotland. |

Love it, love it, love it, LOVE IT, LOVE IT LLLLLLOVVVVVVVE IT, Ida! Classical Civilisation was one of my majors and the Classical Civilsation lecturers were the best lecturers in the whole of the University and they made me fall in love with particularly Ancient Greece, even more than I had been since I first fell in love with it at the age of 7. When I was later teaching in a primary school, I managed to wriggle Greek vase painting into the History syllabus and my pupils were just as excited about it as I was. You brought all that back for me, Ida, in your superb little cameo! THANK YOU! Owl |

A profound truth, Ida. Kind of follows the "believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see" philosophy. There is so much most of the world does not see, or bother to see as the case may be, for all of the nonsense we do pay attention to. Michael |

One of your true jewels, dear Ida. You succeed in saying so much in just a few perfect lines. Love, Margherita |
