you had some of that morning sun on your grin
like lipstick casual, a cigarette flavor of hello
and your eyes were long fingers slowly touching

I admired your assets, how they knew your denim
and you kept adjusting the fit in front of me
like my glances were attempting to undress you

I counted bottles of whiskey when you turned away
for a reason to know how you would fit my smile
if you were ever to slip and fall across my whispers

perhaps, just long enough for a thousand introductions
