~*~ Burning tears slide sideways while I dream in watercolors rewinding an impossible love affair lying in wait deep in the dark abyss of the iris in my eyes. I blink you back if only for a fleeting moment waving at every go round that leaps from the past pushing pause. Winters were cool on the outside and the warmth of your kiss was a welcome shiver. The spring was long stemmed in a field of flowers while making dandelion wishes that blew in the wind. Summers were for low tides and wading in warm pools. The fall was for skipping stones across shallow waters thrilled by the ebb and flow. Somehow, by sheer will I kept my head above water. I was not so blinded by the light or slap of wind or the sudden rush of lust leaving me to take the fall. Our impossible love affair would be the keeper of my dreams a gift to take with me wherever I go into the future past, and beyond it was all that. My eyes have since adjusted to the light slow dancing in the shadows rising high above the fog bank softly swirling in the evening mist cradled in the crescent. Those days were the times of my life Old man winter collides from all sides; spring makes me feel brand new again the fall is for leaving and the summer soltice lingers longingly. You were my impending storm my spring bouquet my cool blue water. the rustle of my leaving. You were the catcher of my breath. Even now, when the breeze ruffles my hemline I am lost in your smile still. ~*~ revised...remembering when |

Dancing around the memories of times past, and your memories were still fresh as the moments they were made, it seems. "Impossible love affair," oh, aren't they all? These memories, we look back and wonder where they are, and do they ever think of us. If they give you ruled paper write sideways. |

When each season can wrap round you, heart and soul, with its own unique blend of artistry, you have lived and loved - beautiful sentiments in your poem |

As I read, my thoughts: Oh, I love that line, I'm going to highlight it; then another gripped the same and a new phrase, likewise. There are a few cliche phrases, but they are wrapped in so unique ones, they almost disappear from notice. I was totally captivated all the way through from the "tears" that created "rainbows," in your view. I need to save this one and share it with friends so they can see a wonderfully written poem to which I might aspire. Your permission?????I have lumps in my throat from the beauty within this piece. A second look, it was "tears sliding sideways," "dream in watercolors," not tears creating rainbows, but that's what I saw. Your words are better, more original, yet evoking what I could relate. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore. |

As one who spends much of the present thinking about the glory of the past, this sings to me. "You were my impending storm" Great line. Every girl I've ever loved were storms in my life, cleaning the slate and leaving a rainbow behind afterward. Anyway, Blues, this is a great, great write and it is sure to resound in my head for a good long while. Great stuff! Saving this. |

Oh, Bluesy Gal, this is wonderful! Sadly I can relate (I suppose most of us can) but I certainly couldn't write it as well as you have done. I often wonder too if "he" remembers but somehow I doubt it. Men are different to women in that respect. I will read your great poem again (probably again and again) but not now - am left feeling somewhat "raw". Whew! You write a mean poem (with "mean" meaning fantastic) and I would have to read it now just before going to bed. Damn! Hope I don't dream! Hugs to you dear one. |

That was exquisite! A metaphoric Mecca! It was a full length Oscar winning romance. A vicarious and voyeuristic voyage dipped in pure chocolate and yet, elegantly understated. I'm at a loss for words... Lori ![]() |

Ah, so nostalgic, and, from the youthful soul with which we all start (no matter how old that soul might be in reality), the yearnings for that one love that is always irreplaceable no matter how many loves may follow it, and the brightness your soul exhibits with the memory – is just wonderful, Blues. This post was so soft in it's essence and shows the depth of love/feelings/soulfulness that you harbor inside. A new high for you, in my eyes, my friend, for truly letting your spirit fly. I feel . . . your gentleness with this read, and it is a beautiful thing indeed. jimmy |

I love the way you have woven the seasons and what they represent to you into this. The change from beginning to end is palpable, and yet your grateful acceptance of something others might only find pain in is enviable. great writing. Michael |
