shadows try to outdo themselves in this shadowy city the heat, oh the terrible heat a speck from a tiny atom strolled into my vision like a wayward son on the run it was there briefly time enough to whisper in my ear the sad funeral you had I closed my eyes heard him leave understanding why I was reminded of it to make me feel guilty I wasn't there for your funeral the real reason for the visit was to remind me in the not too distant future I would have my own sad funeral where no one will come

This is so sad, but at the same time in in my own funk, so at least take to heart it was lovely.

You don't need a lot of people now in your life and you surely won't need them then. All the internet people in your life you'll be with them as you wish when you pass. Besides, as they say, funerals are for the living.

My Horoscope said today that Happiness is a way of thinking, therefore I needn't pursue it, rather I just decide it. Works for me! I'm feeling better again today, thanks for asking.

I've been to a couple of funerals where the Priest/Minister called the deceased by the wrong name. I don't think funerals are that important but rather the release and new beginning is what I'm hoping for. Ida

Yep, you are absolutely correct, Ida. I won't have a funeral anyway, my body goes for research. Thank you for being here.If they give you ruled paper write sideways.

Jerry I like your decision to be available for research.
In complete agreement. Not one for funerals. I did not have one for my husband. I think the children who did not live here may have wanted one but I suggested if they did want a service they could have a small memorial service in Ct.
They had each come here to spend his last weeks with him. I had suggested they come one at a time so they could share their time alone. A few had a day or two of inter lapping as one was on his last day and leaving as one was coming in. They did that way and it was better by far for each to have that last week with him. The sons were each able to lay on his bed with him and share being close. I have let all in my family know I do not want a funeral either. I have been to too many and people who you have not seen in years feel compelled to come for the family. But the person who has died does not receive that visit. Too little too late. I prefer a flower or a visit while I am alive not after I am gone and can not appreciate the thought. regards, Jo JMO Jo

I, of course, am in total support of every word you have said. I have always hated funerals starting way back when I was a small fry. I imagine all kids hate funerals, but I never grew out of it. My family and I don't see eye to eye on things and haven't for many years. I have three brothers, and there is only one I would even entertain thoughts of attending his funeral. I didn't allow my late wife to have a funeral because of her family's treatment of her, especially the daughter. I didn't even have a memorial. I have what is left of her in a closet. My, but you got me to talking, Jo. Guess I needed to let it all out.

Sometimes funerals aren't all that sad, it is according to how the deceased lived his life. Thank you NT, for stopping by.

A funeral should be a celebration of life.At my mother's a friend carried on wailing and crying out my mother's name and it bothered me.I had to learn to realize everyone mourns in a different way.I am for the new ways of having a get together for close family or friends or none at all.My brother's children took his ashes out to the waters he loved to fish in the Atlantic and they together spread his ashes and they sent me a video of it.I loved that. What ever pleases the person who has died. Most to tell their families before hand. JMO jo

Yeah, the video would have been, in my opinion, Jo, much better than a funeral where at least half of the people who attended wish they hadn't had to.If they give you ruled paper write sideways.
