Confidence lit up the sky Our dreams lay before Our hearts and minds free to soar We saw it coming and we stood It was all eternal While we were the young We looked forward with belief Each of us the future in our blood We were words and motion We were the untouchables The kick and the step For we were the young Now we are looking back As we knew we never would Counting regrets we'd never have Uncounting the tears that past The first day to last Now We aren't the young I aint as good as I once was but I'm as good, once, as I ever was. - Toby Keith [This message has been edited by Walter Poe (09-02-2014 04:54 AM).] |

WalterPoe, You sound like my eldest son talking.Born in 1950.It is so hard to help people who have so many regrets.I do not ask questions as it is too late to erase memories totally. But we must give in and realize it happend when we were young and thoughtless. And it happens to many others. That does not appease him but I am sure he has not been as bad as he feels as he was always kind and gentle to every one.Animals, and people,Best to you, jo |

Time and rhyme go hand in hand, whichever angle you look at poetry from, it reads differently each time, your poetry is really good, thank you for the read...Keith. |

Optimism and conviction... eroded into regrets and confusion. Time leaves as many wrinkles in our dreams as it does in our flesh. Excellent write! |

Feeling you....the young always feel invincible...immortal...untouchable...it's a long hard lesson...regrets I guess are inevitable...for everyone... Write on, man~
