candle's perfume seeks out the darkness beer laced with whiskey on demand there she is pencil thin eyebrows super crimson lips and leering breasts dangling flashing earrings she's a poet vixen cheap California bourbon her poison pen to paper her life conning, manipulating, murder her passion she is identifiable in most crowded salons tonight the coppers are closing in she sniffs the air she'd know copper smell anywhere gin and doughnuts bad news she split with bullets dancing the jitterbug around her back door she went through Fedora and working man's overalls stashed behind garbage dump quick change artist she is and hit the street walking can't run she's a working man after all hoping no one notices the spike heels a cool kitten on the run a neon shriek comes from somewhere in the naked city doll is running out of breath or has she just had a run in her stockings? she smiles knowing she has beat them again hails a taxi cruising by as her ride pulls back in traffic her hand goes up toward the back window givin' the coppers the one finger salute ©July 19, 2014 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |
