I speak of the bayou it is introduced in many of my poems Bayou Lafourche that, then is my bayou's name and, in the twilight of day no matter what kind of day it has been the bayou soothes my troubles and, if the night is clear the stars seem to point me in the right direction it liberates me in a kind of mystical séance from the days' stress and tumultuousness I become enmeshed within this wonderful moment alone watching the dark water flow slowly by in the light of a pale, pale moon something takes me over giving thought to those I know I see their faces silently I ask are we the kind of friends that my sadness is your sadness can you experience and understand my devotion to you can you feel my anguish my breath is it your echo ahhh . . . rippling sounds focus my attention back to Bayou Lafourche as if it was chastising me for daring to ask such personal questions the ripples become giggles at this old man standing quite along on the bayou's edge waiting for answers which will never come matters not I have all the answers I really need ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (08-25-2014 12:26 PM).] |

I liked every turn of this meander... from the peacefulness of the beginning, through the questions and on to acceptance. Superb! |

When I hear you speak of the bayou, I always feel how at home you are there. I know you must be, because you write of it in a way I have never felt about anywhere I have lived. What more answers would one need in such a place? Michael |

Michael is on to something here... there is a special quality to your bayou poems and this one in particular has even more of that special something. Like I have said on many occasions, it is a pleasure taking these walks with you my friend. Lori ![]() |

Thank you Michael, I am a fortunate man I know to be where I am at this, the nearness of the end. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |
