I remember (A tribute to Benjamin Cowie) I see you sitting As you have so often Wishing at the past for who you lost I see you losing The Game A life Who you were Who you could have been As you enter The dark night Walk tall as you did as you will again Be content you will be remembered You have a legacy of strength and love You have been real A Light over rocks A voice in the dark Now you rest I see you in the end As you sleep The sleep of the innocent And I remember you The Dream (A Memory of Joyce Cowie) You came to me in my dream I remembered once again who I was The memory of a life long dead With you gone long cold I lost the last of my past I was free to lose everything I stare at the dead ground ahead Lifeless and barren it stands But I could give you one last hug You gave me one last gift A simple feeling of not being alone Just one last contact with the world You are a ghost You are a dream Yet you are the most real thing The only anchor I had until you went Washed away in life's stream Now I'm left alone once again To lose that life once again Yet indelibly you are printed On my heart and my memory Your ghost hand on my heart Forever guiding and leading me.
