Sunflowers! They grow glorious in Kansas! Sunflowers come in many shapes and sizes You find them wild by the roadside and cultivated by the acre Their brown faces follow the sun as their flaming yellow petals bob in the breeze They grow just about anywhere you go so you are always reminded of home and the coming of autumn Sunflowers have no need for fragrance or delicate blossoms They stir us with their cheerful countenance We are twice blessed to be here Sunflowers! They grow glorious in Kansas! |

We get a lot of marigolds here where I live. I'm not really drawn to them like I was the wildflowers that grew all around when I lived in the mountains... I really miss that. One day I might just build me a cabin in the mountains and live like old Grizzly Adams. If I disappear one day, look at your sunflowers and smile. Michael |

tracie66, Oh my what a surprise to see this at the top! I had forgotten all about it! I wrote it for a poetry reading I did at my parent's retirement ctr. I'm delighted you enjoyed it enough to comment. Thank you so much. ~L |

A long way off from the smile of a sunflower I'd say, given this cold Winter, but somehow you managed to conjure their sweet memory and remind me..Yes !!! there are flowers to come |

I had some huge ones in my back yard a few years ago. I think I should plant some again now that you've made me think of them. Ida |

Gosh, Spring and flowers seems so far off. I'm not sure where I would plant them this year Ida. Thanks for commenting! |
