All on a Rainy April Day Rainy April day, and my Chuck Jackson All-Stars are water-logged, and I thought I heard you say something 'bout your favorite Dylan song as you lit up yet another jay and we slide along in your Cadmium car 20 bucks won't get us very far but what with these holes in our umbrellas, I really couldn't have a care Monophonic sadness, the radio sayin' something 'bout Strawberry Fields lazily the fingers of me press on the dusty dash and cracked windshield this frickin' town's a mess as we slip down the greyness of thunder so saintly we gracefully blunder together we walk with holes in our socks, but I couldn't be at all aware Hit the hi-fi button there kick the dog off the futon n' I'll dare to just drip into your lap instead lemme unscrew the thoughts from your head n' paddle 'round all day in the lovely words you forgot to say but hey you can say 'em to me yeah yeah yeah you can lay it on me, babe Drained of energy to die, insects crowd the hushing, drowsy blue spring and I saw thunderclouds pry the sky molecules open of everything say bye bye Miss American Pie and we'll sip the torn heavens of love sendin' out our courier doves so fragile, so bleached, so not punk rock, and I really am not prepared Turn the radio up a hair collect droplets of emotion everywhere n' let's say this is the bookend to our soaked to the bone runaway weekend ye fool of nerdy white sin, in the curse words of songs I've penned hey hey I can pen them for you yeah yeah yeah let me play it on you, babe Rainy April day lost at sundown and hey I think I just found what chased away the dark cold winter and I think I'm gonna stay with her through the oncoming summer squall. Quite a trip through the verses of a rainy day. Many song parts mentioned, clever write with lots of ambiguous metaphors. Enjoyable bluesy read. Eric true love never looks after it's own interests |
