Here, in early rave of Spring with apple green of life recalled in sheer forest seas of budding trees, gathering each sacred wood used for drawing down in living fire, how Great the Rite when soon new moon will be too bright for sleeping; I’m no longer finger teasing threads of time in weaving spells of measured rhyme nor dragging fevered legs that heat too easily when body sips too harsh the wine of age bearing rage in throbbing charms to spread before my fire, I find instead myself oft wandering in peace my gardens’ pathways bring despite all harsh remembering, for me outside this fortress’ door, any warmth of sunshine’s sting is fatal over time. I am a nighttime creature blest with having lived life at its best gifted with starred memories of lessons, tests and trials, bequests inherited for myself from lives I’ve grown too old to count. When I was young I thought this knowing should be shared, but with age, finding no one really cared beyond gasp and sigh a moment brings when soaring high as maidens sing grasping yet to breathe soft air of freedom waiting there outside each garden door, I learned it’s best to hide the meanings ‘tween the lines, words clinging to themselves like straw caught up in tines of idle fork lingering by fence post propped in shadowed corner over there. ©2012 by icebox |

Words of wisdom from the experience of living through unforgettable years of distance walked. Many things change but not all of them. Great metaphors and settings in each verse. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and can relate to much. Eric true love never looks after it's own interests |

The aging process can be fun, and right now, it is fun for me. I understand the negativity about not being listened and that not one, well hardly anyone, really cares what lessons have been learned and what pitfalls to avoid. Eh! It is what it is, Ice, and we do with it what we will. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

It seems there are some memories that even the veil between lifetimes can't take from us. Ida |
