Endless Time Time that ticking clock Like a death-watch beetle Gnawing at the very foundation of your life The incessant movement of the hands Brushing the face that does not smile Relentless, to wait for no-one Certainly not for me And in the dark, the face is hidden But still I feel the hands, moving Until the dawn, and shadows reach The tick tock of my heart Racing to infinity and beyond And will that clock ever stop Sometimes the hands become as one And then move on to twilight time Until I lose the key |

Poets like to write about time and death, in fact I posted one about all that this morning also. It fascinates us, the moving hands of time. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

The hands move ever faster the older you get...I always feel like I'm running out of time...this one hit home. Lori ![]() |

Something about advancing years that make time seem a little more important - like, what kind of tree am I going to plant in my yard that I can live long enough to see it grow into something beautiful!, and not be planting it just for the future enjoyment of the next people to own MY house. Interesting write...agree with jerry... j. |

Michael, enjoyed your poem. I feel just like what JP, Lori and J W said. Can't get ahead of time. Ms. E |
