Thursdays That Were Fridays…A Spring Poem When the economy had turned sour you would not let me follow in kind so there were good times on Fridays when a matinee seemed in order but lunch first! A margarita to start when you allowed that giggling girls were always an awesome start to any movie, no matter the serious or mysterious, and you were a mistress to mystery loving the deepest of mind melding thrillers. Quite possibly the potential is there for the masses to have forgotten you, even “us”, as if we never were, but your ripples still stir the pond in my pondering, and the frogs have returned early this spring, to croak over the remains of you that linger through spring, for you oh so loved spring. Maybe I think of you specifically today because a friend not so new to me (but would have been new to you) found solace in the loss of her mother today; a mother who did not remember her, nor any of the children born of her; and I cannot help but think, oh poor dear, she is pleased because her mother no longer suffers; oh poor dear, the depth is waiting… and I think of you, my friend, for it was only your body that gave in, and up, and out, so sharp minded as you were regardless of the medicinal means to keep you comfortable; so much so you wanted to see the moon one last time, to wing it into winter; knowing Spring was just minute hours away, for you oh so loved spring. ~*~ © KRJ 4-13-12 In memory of Louise Ryan |

I hardly know what to say, Karilea. These kind of "remembrances" have a tendency to mist the eyes and put a frown on this old weathered face. It happened this time. Nice thoughts concerning your dear friend. She is smiling. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

I want to thank all of you for sharing a moment with Louise and me. We had many such times...and we often found that between our physical breaks in time when I could not be in her presence, our thoughts were still linked. Louise was pretty much confined to her home the last five years of her life. God blessed me with "time off" that I might spend more time with her in person, which was a gift to me, much more than her, I am sure. He blessed me with many memories that I had to store... and Jo? Darlin' girl....just start talking to your friend in your mind....let it all out. Therein is the story. I cannot say this is a poem... but it is a memory that I am hard put to lay away the substance of, so they will continue. Love, K |
