I've made promises, promises of love and companionship promises of faith and desire and all the good things life says it has to offer. But promises get broken and so do souls and hearts and people and spirits. And nobody really gives a damn when they ask how you are doing and when you say I'm broken thank you they just don't hear anything but I'm fine. |

That's the feeling, dear Dixie, yes, all too often! You express this sad truth very well. Margherita |

You touched me with this one, Dixie. Don't know how I missed it. You are absolutely correct, people hear what they are programmed to hear. You wanna talk, I'm a good listener. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Sometime "they" don't know what to say, my friend . . . that being very different than 'they don't care'. It can be very hard to help someone that you "can't", or "don't know how to" and "they" are left between a rock and a hard place because their desires are so much more than their abilities. I know that doesn't lessen your 'sadness' any but I think you have a lot more 'care' out there than this write gives credit to. as always...my heart... j. |

Some care... and listen... but feel helpless to do anything besides hug the pieces and look for glue. (((hugs))) |

Very true and well written. Except, some of us do want to know how you are doing. |

I know I have responded but I have to say something here. Every time you pose these kinds of please "look at me, I'm at my wits end," I get the feeling that it is garnering of attention you crave. If that is so, you get the attention, passing shadows, so why do you continue to play out the game? You are liked. We, everyone says the right things. How about paying attention? ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Jerry, I just got back in here after almost 2 months. I just finished posting on my other poem. You don't need to lash out at me because I haven't been here. I write not to get attention or to impress, but for my own therapy. I don't know why I decided to stop in today but I did. If you feel that way about my poetry, I would not be hurt if you didn't read it anymore. |

I don't agree with the context of this poem at all or many of the other replies. I'm telling you some people do care and they care deeply. You can't roll the masses of people in the world up into a ball of uncaring faces. I know the morals and the caring warmth of the general populace has declined but there are still many many out there who genuinely care. Even when they say hello and don't know you they still feel a special communion from the greeting. Many still do. I care, and I wrote my responses to your other posting because I do care. You don't really think I have the time to waste pretending I care do you? There's too much to gained from the romance of life to shrug it all off as simply noone cares. I drank away a wife, a business, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property, a daughter (who is back in my loving fold thank goodness) but I came back from it all and YES there's people out there who care and they helped me through and I let them teach me how to help myself. Not all people are uncaring! Eric true love never looks after it's own interests |

I accept that you post these as a form of therapy, please accept my apology for thinking otherwise. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |
