A Cold Day Well it's a cold, cold day outside, The wind's howling through the trees. A bitter pain - a sweet spring rain Stings of calloused memories. I still hear the slamming of the door, 'Recall standing outside, looking in... Through watered eyes, and severed ties, Like bitter frost burning my skin. Your words still echo in my mind, Tearing at the essence of my heart: "A cold day in hell," I remember well, Before we could have a brand new start. So for two years I've faced this world, alone, And I've held up the best I can... Putting back together what seemed lost forever, The shattered pieces of this broken man. Now I find you, all smiles, at my door; Darling, don't say a word, I can tell... From those sparkling eyes, agloss with lies, Today must be a cold, cold day in hell. Michael Anderson I strike! It quivers in that heart |

Haha!! Gotta love it . . . Close the damn door, don't let any of that Michael warmth touch her. Leave her stand outside until icicle's grown on her Pinocchio nose. Serves the wench right, thass whot I'm sayin' . . . ~*~ I gave up feeling guilty just to survive a long time ago ~*~ |

Having just recently become a "Michael fan" I think I'd better now also close the door - too damn emotional but, Wow, so really, really, great. Nice to cry for someone else but sadly I can't say "for a change" because I guess I've been doing that all my life. Okay - so the upshot is that I reckon you're a damn fine writer! Helen |

That cold day finally came, hey...it seems to have a way of doing that! Beneath the humor is a powerful message, and a poem it's perfect vehicle. Enjoyed! Best, Amaryllis |

grinning... knowing you as well as I do, only adds to the fact that I would never want to be on the wrong side of this pen. |

Talk about a bad penny rolling back in! LOL Through watered eyes, and severed ties, Like bitter frost burning my skin. There are some smiling faces that should have their noses bloodied by a slamming door... but your words are longer lasting and far more impressive. *S* Applauding the poetry... and hoping for a warm spell... and early spring. *S* |

I love the rhyme scheme with the addition of the double rhymes in the 3rd lines, Michael. It adds an extra emphasis to this powerful write. Much enjoyed! Best wishes, /Kit |

JP, oh yeah, that's door was shut pretty quick... May have even snapped that pretty little Pinocchio nose clean off. Helen, lol... Thank you. I think... We've all had to shut a few doors in our lives I would bet. Thank you for the compliment. Bel1e, you betcha girl, slammed it and then some. Amaryllis, thank you Sir, I'm glad you enjoyed. Michael |

Tracie, oh yeah, it was slammed, the shades were pulled, and the gun was loaded... just in case. rofl Nicole, words are very powerful things, indeed... and when used as a weapon, often leave irreparable wounding. A lesson I've learned the hard way. Ruth, haha, a penny? Believe me I can think up plenty more less enchanting 5 letter words for her. Kit, thank you so much... I'm glad you enjoyed. Michael |

Good one, Michael, and it would be a cold day in hell before I would open up the door to all that again. Ida |

You write it so well and I want to yell DON'T OPEN THE DOOR, MICHAEL! DO NOT OPEN THAT DOOR. But, what the hell, open it. I'd have to. Okay, I went over the top with this response. It's just how I am. A |
