Some say the world should be seen only in black and white, with no distortion of shadows or gray, it only confusing their perceived reality. But I would go here, deep in the heart of barely apparent shadow moments becoming gray with hoarfrost if I stood still long enough, if my blood ran slow, and cold enough… but they tell me I am too warm, that pink, gold and green would put color into their life, they, the ones that live in shadows… ~*~ and in the barely see me here gray, there, on a small curving bridge, I revel in vastness so overwhelming, for no horizon is seen to give perspective, no top to come crashing down, just expansive gray, and thoughts that travel with no end… ~*~ maybe they see me here, somewhere in this poem, or just maybe, maybe I’m alone. ~*~ Photo, courtesy, C. "but they tell me I am too warm, that pink, gold and green would put color into their life, they, the ones that live in shadows…" Sometimes we need to stay where we are for the duration of the time lapse, even if we are "gray with hoarfrost." ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Wow, Karilea, this poem is way cool....:-) "Some say the world should be seen only in black and white..." Some say that, but that is impossible, as black and white are not primary colors and gray is the mud that happens when black is mixed with white. But in some ways the world is a pleasent teacher of contridictions. In some black and white art, (like yin/yang symbols) the contrast adds to the meaning. "but they tell me I am too warm, that pink, gold and green would put color into their life, they, the ones that live in shadows…" ...Life in the sun is very colorful "pink, gold, and green" etc. But I can comprehend reasons for being happy in shadows, Say, as an observer of the short, gray, shadow days of winter, like the one in your picture "on a small curving bridge, I revel in vastness so overwhelming, for no horizon is seen to give perspective," Ahh but the bridge is stable, maybe not a bridge at all, but the curve of a rainbow? One cannot see either end, by seaching the black and white of present "reality" To see, and bring to life in words (poetry) like you have done here, makes me think That the treasure on the end of one side of the 'bow is your personal history, and the unseen , colors, in brilliant hues in the pot on the opposite end, is where your life is going. The ideal is to keep your balance on the bridge.. "maybe I’m alone" The most powerful line in the poem. Love this poem, the darks, and the brights in it. Namaste |

"maybe they see me here, somewhere in this poem, or just maybe, maybe I’m alone." Heart-squeeze. Big hug to ya. If you were to be considered alone, it would be at the top of a list of great poets. Love this write. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

Very, very good, my friend. And I doubt you'll ever be "alone"... well, only if a crowd can be considered a single entity. Much enjoyed. j. |

Good point of reference, Michael The cold hearted orb, is black at its center, and white on its surface..no colors. But this poem breaks that illusian, In its bleakness, is all the colors of human emotions..

Sissie....This is a wonderfully deep and pondering poem. In a sense, we are all alone even when standing in a crowd. You are the only one that sees exactly what you see. That's not a bad thing but a good thing. |
