There is no cold deeper than a woman's heart
who has left love to die from neglect;
"I'll never leave,"
you promised me
you see I've stilled my memory;
awake in cold of deep Winter's night.
I know you are gone by bite and ache
of chill that never gets warm.

I relate. Dammit, I relate.

Cold hard truth written with a heart melting saddness. Excellent!

I feel the sharpness and heaviness of your pain which you have fashioned into beauty, Charly.

Yes this hurts, dear Charly. And the title sums it up perfectly.

Very intense and sad. Breathe on and the pain will lessen.

I like how your poems are like paths to words and those words are what make this poem truly meaningful

A permanent icicle of a 'good-bye'

impaled in the heart.

Felt deeply.

Wonderfully descriptive and powerful Icebox, I very much appreciate the way you captured this ache so eloquently.

Best wishes,
