What's the point of writing?
Shall I pen a phrase or two
poising all my thoughts in passion
Just to render them to you?
Shall I bleed my heart for ink
And scribe it's pulses Jot and tittle
Just to try to make you think
Or maybe make you love a little?
Should I be a selfish man
Who only writes for his own pleasure
Making every verse I can
Betroth itself it's own endeavor?
How about I pluck a posey
Just to send it to a friend?
Only written so your cosy
With the tenderness I lend
I think I'd rather not
And so I'll stop, refraining verse
Lest my anger boil hot
And lend my heart some more remorse
I'll break my pen and burn my art
I'll rent my own sad, lonely heart
And tear this whole damn world apart
Instead of writing you again!

I understand your plight . . .

sometimes there are ears to listen, sometimes not
should that be reason to write, or should it not?
I never captured certain ears I dearly sought
others listened dear but now are naught
who cares of blood or flesh one's rent
or values the trouble you have spent
it is all old words you have reused
no need to wonder or be confused

If I had a dollar for every time I laid down my pen I'd be a rich man my friend.  Never have I thought to lay it down for failure to move someone though.  When you write, you offer a piece of your soul, that's a given.    The measure of the writing is not in its acceptance, but in the truth of the writing to the emotion you are feeling.  You can only fail yourself in this.

All I'm really trying to say is the pen is not your enemy, try not to ignore the words wishing to flow from it.  Your passion was evident in this one.  That's a good thing, even if it it was brought forth from unappreciated emotions.

This is really just a rant! Because of Jessie! Who has been my muse of muses for several months now! She loves to read what I write for her but... You catch my drift! To encourage my fellow poets! I still write for her!
