http://soundcloud.com/diana-van-den-berg-2/as-if-thrice-adream AS IF THRICE ADREAM 20 November 2013 Softly, on bare feet she slipped into the forest. Amidst the mesmerising twitters and chirps and trills of her little avian friends, she heard a twig snap behind her. She turned in recognition but there was nobody there. She paused a moment, remembering . . . Inhaling the sweet, sweet scent of the damp forest path and the zillion green leaves fluttering their welcome, she slipped deeper and deeper into her beloved haven. In the heart of it, she paused and sighed and drank in the peace and exhilaration of her memories. She sat down on a fallen log, the soft cream folds of her long silk dress contrasting with the quiet shades of the grey-brown trunk and its rough bark, which her hands caressed as in a dream, slipping into another time. Only the birds and the forest creatures saw her smile and close her eyes then rise and flow into a long forgotten dance barefoot, in the forest of her memories. Owl |

Beautiful, it is easy on these solitary forest walks to slip into the dance of yesteryear...and the long forgotten steps surge to life again. CG |

oftentimes only the birds and the forest creatures would be worthy to share our innermost life with which you embrace and speak of with such clarity |

Yes, I agree, EmmaRose, about the birds and the forest creatures for they are without guile. Thank you for your kind words and appreciation of my poem. Owl |
