Through the billowing Autumn mist a last red leaf falling over this mere of dreams a pair of blue herons brushing the ripples ‘Deep-Time’ wilderness a thousand peeks and ‘endless’ valleys' in the graveyard fog a nameless spirit leans on a blank headstone swirling clouds dance the soft breezes of ‘Indian summer’ along this Winter shore what can we learn from small empty abandoned boats cloud-swept valleys ‘endless’ hill upon hill this singing wilderness if we were not here would the moon shine on? conflict is never the true nature of the heart and it needs no words to speak the bright Autumn moon is the pivot of my heart the light of my soul a plaintive Autumn wind sighs through endless clouds and bare bone-wood trees moon in night’s pocket over this lake of dreams one heron in the clouds gone without a trace --- b. e. adams (10/15/2013) |
