Pause The candor of emotion worn Upon a dirty sleeve, I face the world a man been torn By dreams of make-believe. I try to grind it all away, Fingers worked to the bone. Still tomorrow's another day I'll wake to face alone. Amidst the ashes of a dream, A cornerstone still held. That spiral staircase it would seem By which she was compelled. No mystery to dark for her, She took the path undaunted. The world outside become a blur Of life's offers unwanted. In hand a gladiola stem, No petals left uncounted. For nothing counted without him 'Pon which her life was mounted. Her soul, her essence, her being, But driftwood on the storm. Yet always with eyes farseeing That which could keep her warm. Where silence used to call to me, Today it just sets still. I'm missing my Serenity, I guess I always will. That voice so strong— so bold— so pure, My trumpet from the east! Resounding a strength to endure Life that raged like a beast. A rainbow on my darkest day, A prism in the night. She took the darkness thrown her way And cast it into light. She called me mentor, now in pause It's all my eyes can see. Like a moth that a beacon draws, How she enlightened me. And I never thanked her. I like your poem! It's well written and thought-provoking. So often we don't value those who teach us something important. P.S. Love these lines: "She took the darkness thrown her way And cast it into light." [This message has been edited by Gale (10-06-2013 06:47 AM).] |

I have no doubt that if it is at all possible, she is smiling at your words, Michael. She affected many people in many different ways. This is the best poem I have seen about her. Excellent! ~*~ I don't have to eat sarcasm to recognize the flavor. ~*~ |

A rainbow on my darkest day, A prism in the night. She took the darkness thrown her way And cast it into light. Dear Michael, what an exquisite, wonderful poem you have written in memory of our beloved Serenity. I agree with Jerry, I am sure she will be deeply touched up there by your beautiful words. Where would we be without the grace of memory, my friend. So many view it from a hurtful or dark ledge, by many are the beautiful too. As is this write. j. |

This is... exquisite. But you know, if you'd uttered those thanks, she would have brushed them off. She really had no clue how brilliant she was. |
