Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

Something has been missing
and only an empty spot remained.
I mourned, among other things,
my loss of words and expression,
and I felt robbed and lonely.
I miss - well, it is already known
that I miss ~ who I miss ~ why I miss.

And in this missing, perhaps,
I have written a tiresome song.
Humming it and honing it,
sharpening the pain,
breathing it, feeling it.

Today, the pungent aroma
of coffee permeates the room
and warms me as I think of missing.
Only quiet black, dark morning
surrounds me, comforts, cloaks
my thoughts in a vacuum
where they settle into an empty spot.
That empty spot

Tributes, those words for friends,
family, those who have died
(such a blunt word)
churn and weave about me.
Misty memories that we hold,
cling to, like life boats, we cling
as we drift in loss and emotion.

No profound words here to share.
Nothing to add to the stories,
just a feeling, as I sip my coffee,
just a feeling.
That we are all heard.
Just a fleeting image.
Of something more.
Just a hope.
For something I can't define.

Nothing really to share,
just shaking off grief
and dabbling with words again.

For me
and those I miss.

shaking off grief with poem  does soothe as we fall into our words, much to contemplate here and draw strength from for many of us going through an endless cycle of loss
May you find some peace soon

That empty place you so eloquently speak about is elusive and can actually bring about heart felt pain. I am lucky, although it took me many years to fill that empty place, I have done so. The absence of pain is wonderful, Alison.

I know this empty place well, Alison. Your grace and eloquence speaks for all who grieve for someone lost.

Alison . . . I wish I could hug you. But I would cry, and I'm trying to stop that. I live your words, I breathe your breath, and I share your pain.

My heart, my friend, My heart.

Alison, you have the tears running down my cheeks and my stomach churning.  I ache with you for your pain.

Whilst I do understand where your heart and soul is coming from, I just have to say this poem, it IS a "poem poem" - in fact it is a POEM POEM; you don't ever write a tiresome anything; your words always, and especially these, are as profound as profound gets; these words of yours add volumes to the stories; you are sharing your innermost soul and so you are sharing everything you possibly could.

Thank you for your POEM POEM, my tears and you being the Alison of all Alisons.

Hugs and tears

Well, Ali girl, bless your heart for shaking off your grief on us. You are  giving us the gift of your Mother through your eyes and heart. Your words bring us into your beloved circle and we cannot help but grief with you and love you.
