you said that needful things were not the most fashionable of items, but wrapped the scarf around us anyway - since you liked how i looked when nothing mattered; and hid the knot so that i wouldn't find it but instead found you blanketed around me heavy and quiet so heavy, was this tightening and there was no end, to the miles that ached across my forehead; or the boundaries and borders that ran around my ankles, snagged like barbed-wire. you have known though all along, about my dark places; the dirty dark ones, where i am so alone and wretchedly voiceless. where i am a woman, starving breathing you in great swallowing gasps. so, you take my silence, and press it flat; then fold it, in planes and valleys little peaks and wingtips for flight. a hundred paper cranes, "they are for luck," you say "and hope, and love and love and love." |

Suffocating is the only thing which came to mind here, Nicole. When you go dark, you GO dark. I know about the dark ones when they go to dirty dark, and they are survival. I know they are. I am still here. There is no cure-all, but start by forgiving yourself, the rest more or less falls in place behind that offering. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Your best so far, my friend. Very, very much enjoyed and don't know that I'd call it dark so much as needful, white-knight yearning. And love. j. |

D It's okay, the cape is for sitting on anyway; I have the shovel all the time, I keep it on my keychain. Jerry; the dark stuff is exactly that, suffocating. It reduces a person down to nothing but a mindless, reactive mass. It takes fight to work out of it, and I got a few years of fight left in me. Thank you J - thank you dear, it is indeed all of those things. |

I love to read your poems outloud. Love the way your language flows, the rhythm always matching the theme. "so, you take my silence, and press it flat; then fold it, in planes and valleys little peaks and wingtips for flight. a hundred paper cranes.." That is music when you bring it to life by sounding out the words. enjoyed "It is difficult |

Your heart is showing... You need not worry, if you know there is a task ahead, then you have a plan, maybe day-to-day, but the realization that you can pivot a different direction is always a good start to completion. Love the struggle. It builds character. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. Maranatha! |

Words that wrap themselves around our inner darkness and in so beautifully expressing the essence of it, set us free... the power of poetry; the wonderful lightness of being, lifting up and away from it all in the last verse. A very special poem that i really enjoyed reading... several times over. |

I felt a little suffocated reading this Nicole (perhaps that is the point) but it is still an amazing write. Ida |
