Back then I traveled with wickedness;
Yes! I conjured up mischief,
Taking into the world mendacity.
I found myself digging my own grave,
To eventually fall into the hole I had dug.
The life I lead made for some pitiful groaning;
Like a man afloat in the ocean
Never learning how to swim.
I faded into the madness of the street,
Days devoured like wisps of smoke,
My bones felt as if they were liquefied,
My heart; withered.
Something inside my being rose up,
Making me aware of things I had not known,
Though I'd heard the undertones of many;
There was real street horror
Everywhere I looked.
People I did not know looked at me with cruel eyes,
Eyes that could kill,
As were my own eyes looking back.
Somewhere, somehow I began to look at myself
As a man,
Not a piece of street scum.
That amazing revelation
Caused me to hunt down my enemies,
They were all inside of me
And more dangerous than any street gangster
I ever knew.
I overwhelmed them,
And did not stop until they were all
Destroyed.
I arose from the ashes.

Me Emma. It was I that fought and destroyed what I had wrought. I was the only one capable of doing it, because it was of my making. I appreciated that you left the ending of your comment open for introspection. Thank you.
