The bayou is calm, it's at peace,
Green scum floats atop the water.
I think about my first daughter,
Is Paula alright or deceased?

I've not heard from her for awhile,
She's been through hell, she's been mauled,
And she's thought of ending it all,
Emails unanswered, that's her style.

It was last April that I'd heard,
I hear her say, "I'm just like you,"
And that, my friend, makes me so blue,
The last time she called her voice slurred.

She's been a wild child, she's been bad,
Put herself through college she did,
Two degrees then sunk low, my kid,
Trying to prove she's just like dad.

Oh Jerry,  how that must worry and hurt you. I know what it is like to know your kids are playing with fire and there is nothing you can do. Fortunately, I was able to keep in touch with mine and they "grew out of it".
They were lucky they could. Prayers for Paula.  If she is just like you, it will all be okay in the end.

The voice of your heart is deeply perceived here, Jerry. I also reacted the way Lori reacted, thinking that if your daughter is on a Life Path like yours, all will be well and let's hope that positive change will occur soon, so that you both may still experience years of harmony together.

May your pain soon be alleviated.

Thank you, Margherita, and what a mind trip, because about six hours after I posted this poem, Paula emailed me. Unbelievable! I'm still in shock this morning.

Wow, I have goosebumps too, dear Jerry!! Thoughts are vibrations and bound to affect our reality. I guess Paula felt the impact of your intense poem and felt the need to reach out. I hope she is doing fine.

Recover from the shock and make the best out of it. Let love flow ...

Oh, no doubt Paula and I were on the exact same wavelength, Margherita. I firmly believe that. Thank you for your thoughts.

This one just hurts... and more so for the lack of any consoling advice I have to offer.  I feel your pain, Jer.

Thanks Michael, don't know if you read above where I said that about six hours Paula got in touch with me after three months of nothing. It was an unreal feeling.

Ah, that's great Jer.  I can kind of relate to that one...  my brother Andy whom I wrote that poem to a couple of weeks ago got in touch with me last week.  That was the first anyone in my family heard from him in 6 months.  The relief was undescribable.  So glad you're experiencing some of the same.

Blues for sure, my friend.  Counting my blessings, I am, in all ways.

Good write though . . . expressed it well.

Jerry, I read your first post and my heart went out to you.I have six adult children and no matter their age I would hurt if six months went by also. Then I read she
e-mailed. So happy she got that vibe you sent to her. Best toyou,jo
