My husband wants a boy.
He picked a family name,
Byron,
or Byrona.
I don't talk about the name,
don't want to jinx it.
A work in progress in my belly.

Those need to be polished,
pictures from my childhood.
Silly.
Me knock-kneed,
My father's driver,
That beautiful car.
That's childhood,
business in Japan.
Had to pick up the language quickly
or else - no playmates.

That mask in the corner?
He's from Bali.
Scares away the evil spirits.
Found this trekking the mountains.
You can shape the sound,
mouthing on the bowl.

Little Byron is with me night and day.
We are bound together,
and we have come to an understanding.
My parents?
Oh. Um...
they're supportive.
Sure, sure -
we're very excited.

I really like the homey manner you did this poem in, roomandboard. Made me feel like I was an actual guest in your home. Very different and I like different. Sometimes.

And your excitement is fully justified, I would say. It's the most stunning and beautiful "work in progress" we can experience!

Enjoyed your musings greatly.

To write about it is a wonderful way to live it fully.
