Yesterday never comes Where is the girl I knew before The laughter in your smile I trace the paths upon your face And linger there a while I hold your hand and talk to you No recognition there I wonder if you dream at night I wonder if you care And every day we meet anew You wonder who I am I tell you things I've told before But smile I always can And then the bell it's time to leave A kiss to say goodbye You do not look to, watch me go This is not the place to cry Another day I'm back again I talk of years gone by And what's for lunch, you wonder then A tear wells in my eye A single tear rolls down your cheek You don't even know it's there Do you know me,when you're asleep I brush once golden hair |

Michael...Really enjoyed reading this very sad and touching poem. I could feel the pain in your words because the person you write about doesn't know you. thanks for sharing. I wrote one simular to your poem about a person with Alzheimer's. Many people suffer from this terrible disease. Thanks for sharing...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

This is achingly sad. Thank you, on her behalf and mine, for visiting her so regularly and being with her. I believe there is a part, no matter how small, of her, who knows you are there. Owl |

This is so heart wrenching. I wonder if I might share it with a friend who is going through this with his mother? Such an important and beautiful poem. Alison |

One can only hope that before cognition failed, they knew they were, and would always be, loved. Good piece, my friend. j. |
