The Lord of the flies
has empty eyes
and appropriate listening devices.
He loves the naïve,
so easy to deceive,
as they don't recognize a crisis.
Admiring not substance
but style,
they didn't hear the clang, clang, clang,
as the seal
rolled down the aisle.

Not my version of "The Lord of the Flies," but hey! It's usually up to interpretation. NOT

I know a novel by William Golding of the same name )
This poem sounds contemporary.

Someone has to keep picking the seal up off
the floor, don't they. Why? because the lord is busy
lording about the house...lol!
