Fair to middlin' of nowhere

The thumb is a mighty tool
as it touches opposing fingers
grasping, picking, plucking

Just as the the fingers
are aided by the thumb
so too the dominant hand
works in tandem with
the opposing one

To just a degree
these partnerships
are fine tuned and reflex
we hardly notice until
something goes awry

A disorder on the left
of a right handed
one would not consider
to be of particular hindrance
But when each failure
of the left thumb
is poignantly accentuated
with  stabbing pain
then it quickly becomes clear
how often we depend upon
the lesser side of ourselves
to become a working whole

Hearing you loud and clear here, Lori. We never know how much we use many things until we develop pain of some kind in them. At that point we fully and painfully understand just how much it means to us.

I finally get to go to the Dr. tomorrow, I hope he can make it better quickly.

Thanks for commenting.
