who are those around me
surely we're not of the same type
from asylums they musta been freed
spouting nonsensical words through water pipes
I've given up understanding them
they think of me un-cool
I think they've embalmed their brain stems
totally misrepresenting words of drool
while I am far from being "square"
I've done things that should've made me dead
and stopped me breathing precious air
but through it all I kept my sanity thread
I think, therefore . . .
I hope and I expect to see tomorrow
I'm in sync with all that I am
I can cope, period

I hear you, Gale, about not "getting" those around you. I have just decided if I can't understand where they are coming from, I really prefer to not have much to do with them. Thank you for reading and commenting on my poem.

Well, Lori, it took me many years to get to this point where I know damn well that I can cope with whatever life throws at me. I'm hoping you will find that secret to deal with life my friend. Thank you always, for being here.
