Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Maybe it is best you walked away
Even though they wonder why
they weren't good enough
for you to love them
and stay

Maybe having issues of
no dad of your own
getting in the way
Abuse is all you know
to pass on
It's good
you're gone

Maybe thinking making kids is
proof of virility to brag about
Parenting a value of no account
demeaning woman's toil and trouble
that you are much above
Just as well you
and your
lack of love
got out

Too bad you didn't have
the right stuff to
do more than fertilize
Too bad you don't realize
the greatest accomplishment
you could ever have had
was to be able and willing
to act like a Dad.

I relate to this sad, but true account, Lori. I'm paying for my actions now in many ways. But I do have comfort in the fact that both my daughters tracked me down and I am in communication with them. A modern-day miracle that it has happened this way.

I don't think this applies to you my friend.
You tried with their Mommas...
The sperm donors I'm refering to in my piece
aren't even that emotionally involved.
It is hard to be a parent, and hard to be a family.  It is a cake walk to knock somebody up.

Sorry, that makes two poems in a row that I didn't "get."

I was concerned when I wrote this that you might react to it that way. So it is not so much that you "didn't get it" but that it got to you. I'm sorry I touched a tender spot.

Wow.  Sadly I see this everyday.  Everywhere.  Someone just told me that he had 13 kids by 6 different women so he only carries cash so Child Support won't garnish his account!!  Then he asked me if I was single...  Seriously?
