The Dusk of June

A pheasant’s call stirs me from my dream
As slowly the June sun descends into the West
A cool breeze whispers that it’s time to leave
As midges dance before the coming dusk

Bide one’s time, what really does that mean
Buzzing bees the pollen they collect
Blackbird’s call, my favourite of them all
Borrowed time which never will be paid back

Common poppies humbly bow their heads
Cornflower blue reflects within the eyes
Creeping Jenny enjoys the woodland gloom
Corn cockle the purple of night’s cloak

Dim now, the visions from the past
Daylight fades and shadows come too soon
Dainty petals close themselves to sleep
Dialect spoken by the babbling brook

Evening now, nature’s lips are hushed
Enchantment promised by fairy rings
Each to choose their path towards the dawn
Perhaps in time, to stay, another day

Dear Michael, you have immersed in Nature and you have written an excellent poem overflowing with deep emotion. Stunningly beautiful.

I wanted to quote something, but every single line is my favorite ...

I never really stopped to think about why the bee collects its pollen, or what the other animals do in their own little world, it was nice to think of the little things for a change.

Thanks for the comments
The beauty of nature is all around, it just takes time to notice, and certainly the little things do matter.

I especially enjoyed this. Your discriptions are so vivid I feel like I have a smudge of pollen on my nose from sniffing the flowers. And your distinctive taste of England makes it all the better.
Bravo!
