The cracked tiles on the street
bright city lights
where the jazz emanated the streets, lost
like homeless pete
sitting on 55th and Broadway

Here comes Kate;
passing through
eyes never leaving her phones screen

Taxis speeding through
shading the cites face
with their bright, yellow paint
three piece suits, wing tip shoes
woman's dress suits,
skirts, leathers purses with gold emblems
hanging in the air

Macys,
Perfume bottles sitting in front
purses not too far behind
escalators that lead
up to mens and woman's clothes
bustling with people
moving their hands through the racks
of shirts and pants
as the subway rumbled just underneath their feet
across Midtown East
With West Village waiting on the other side of town

West Village
where the cobbled streets
matched the grey doors
to the brownstone homes
as the trees stood in rows
on each side of the streets sidewalks
Clarity, so fluid in its peaceful descent
one could lose their thoughts
in its presence

The village,
catering to cafe's just up the block
with grandmothers conversing with one another
about the first time meeting their first love
and young men working towards something more
typing away on their laptops,
sipping on dark, french roast
with smidges of saliva resting on the brim of their mugs
Small tables, circular
with a long, white chapped table sitting against the right side of the wall
as a white, backless bench sat outside
a couple sat with their newborn
quietly sleeping in his red carriage
the young mans hand rested on her front right thigh
overlooking the sunset
with sounds of West Village heard along the skyline

Having lived there, had two children born there, your description is much the way I recall it, and that was many years ago. Enjoyed this informative travelogue.
