in heat of battle,
a mother’s love flanks front lines,
reinforcements shaved.

*My daughter shaved this woman's head bald in support of her daughter who has cancer.

What a wonderful and symbolic thing to do. Amazing and comforting and hopefully, even though symbolic, it will help lead to her daughter beating the dreaded "C".

Hey, thank you, Jerry...

I appreciate so very much your kind comment and, yes, let's hope she does defeat it. In this poem, I was thinking that, though symbolic of being very very supportive, shaving one's head perhaps symbolizes a bit more fight in a person as well as it does seem to do for those in our military, boxers, skinheads, etc. etc. and, yeah, a bit more fight just might be the thing to stir a few fresh reinforcements with a bit more fight as well into battle. Again, yeah, definitely, let's hope for the best!

A neighbor, 2 houses down, used to grow his hair for six to eight months - kept it in a pony tail (10 to 12 inches or more), then cut it all off and donate it to M.D. Anderson (cancer hospital). Did this every year for years ... until his death (accidental - not cancer) So know where for you're coming from.

I tried, but mine got 2 or 3 inches in a year,
all the top is bald ... think that had anything to do with it???
