like leaves raked and burnt
we try to obliterate the past
and while the smoke filters
back to us as we lean on our
virtual rake watching smoke
fill the air with his forgotten
past but he knows it isn't the
same and his past will never
be destroyed like the leaves
for haunting him like black
angels is visions of decades
old sins of youth come back
seeping beneath the veneer
of barricades of dark nights
in the bedroom ghost comes
uninvited not asking either
all we can do is cry mutely
as we try to stop the dream
but we can't until we sit up
in the middle of the dream
admitting the voices of 'ere
yesterdays and days before

Yes, it's a haunting I'm sure we all experience at some time or other but, as they say, a life not examined isn't worth anything. Just got to do a lot of shoulder shrugging at a certain age. Ghosts aren't there if we don't think they are - Helen's wisdom.

You got it, Bob, its like I say, I still have my dark moments, but I write about them instead of acting them out. Thank you for your input today.
