Love's hope |

There once was a time that gypsy recalls when a feeling of love gripped everyone in a vice not made by words alone but by the true essence of man. That essence has fallen prey to this world that decrees a false manner of being and the remnants left over too weak and frail to debate on this life’s shaky platform. Love simply creeps in and lives within man’s self-imposed boundaries holding hope like a candle in the dark that boundaries will shatter and set it free. It happens sometimes to those in the know that something must break before release and there is a measure of pain and anguish with the drop-away of false veneers. But we pick up the pieces and smile merrily in order to blend into humanity and pretence has a way of becoming real to each and every perpetrator. So we walk and talk the expectations of a world unversed in the ways of love but thankfully so the candle still burns awaiting sincere validation. But no clap or bow enough to ignite the full worth of love’s silent hope without a return to the essence of man flickering in the dark of this world like an, oh, so little candle! I have to say I believe in every word of this poem, Helen. True love has been swept away by the modernization and fast track energy of today's world. We want everything now and loves takes a beating because it doesn't have time to grow into maturity. ~*~ I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. I can't put it down. ~*~ |

Thanks, Jerry. The "devil's" energy perhaps? However, we can see how many distractions have burst on the world in a relatively short space of time and it's those distractions that veer us away from the meaningful leaving, as you say, no time for love to grow into maturity. The pity of it is that so many people say "I love you" without the foggiest idea of what it actually means. Oh, well, it is the world today and we can only but make the best of it. Helen |

Extremely well said and (unfortunately) so very true in this double-post-modern world of illusions particularly amid the 'Runaway American Dream' ... "we pick up the pieces and smile merrily in order to blend into humanity and pretence has a way of becoming real to each and every perpetrator." |

Another great thought provoking poem from you, dear Helen. When we ascribe commitment to Love, then no doubt many young people (especially young men) get panic attacks, for they fear responsibility. What indeed do we mean when we say "I love you"? Everyone may have their own ideas and really mean it when they say it. It's still a precious moment, when it is born of emotion, whether due to passion or to tenderness. We are still in the process of awakening to LOVE, the kind of Love that is the motor of life and leaves no one unloved. Love, (I mean it! ) Margherita |

Thank you, Bruce. I appreciate you commenting. Thanks, Margherita. Yes, everyone has their own perspective (or agenda) and we like to hear the words even though we don't think to ask them what they really mean when they say them. But give me actions instead - words are fickle. |

God = Love God breathed life into man. Love = the essence of man. Makes sense to me! ...and, yes, oh, thank God, thank God there's still a hope! There's still a flicker! Enjoyed! |

Vividly expressed in the eloquence of your poetry. The clarity of the message rings throughout. Thank God for Love, thank God for God, and thank you for the reminder of it all |
