Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Heavy boots
the kind that
leave dried mud
chunks on the floor

Heavy boots
that kick the
stupid out of
hunting dogs

Heavy boots
you hadn’t
bargained for
walking on you

Heavy boots
with heels
you know
you are under

Heavy boots
at the end of words
that leave bruises
unseen

Heavy boots
that trample
and crush
delicate things

Hard to read, Lori. If this is all real I am sorry.

You were really able to conjure up a whole lot of emotion just by using boots as your subject, good job at writing, and, like the other comments given, I agree, Ouch! Sorry! Hope you're OK! There was a song sung a few years ago by Nancy Sinatra, "These boots are made for walking," but the boots where on the other feet and, um, yeah, I think I liked it better that way, but, anyways, still, I  Enjoyed your rendition as well.

Well done, however graphic, like the boots you refer to, your poem was hard to read.

Sigh~  be well, Lori~

I appreciate the way you've captured the pain and pressure one feels under this environment in a very visual and tangible sense. Really well written Lori.

Best wishes,

I read this earlier today and it lingered with me all day.  You pack a lot of punch in your poems.  That's a good thing, in my opinion.
